Dear Rethinking Schools friends,

Sorry for the late notice. Tonight on PBS, Tavis Smiley is hosting a show
commemorating the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's April 4, 1967
speech denouncing the war in Vietnam and declaring that the United States
government is "the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today."

Check out Amy Goodman's interview with Smiley on Monday's Democracy Now:
http://www.democracynow.org/2010/3/29/as_obama_visits_afghanistan_tavis_smiley.
The show looks excellent and student-friendly.

If you decide to teach about this, the Zinn Education Project posts an
excerpt of King's speech along with teaching ideas at:
http://www.zinnedproject.org/posts/548.

Best,

Bill Bigelow
