Hello Rethinking Schools Friends,

I've been a member for a long while, & I'm excited to share with
everyone a new initiative that I'm a part of!

The Center for School, Family, and Community at the NW Regional
Educational Laboratory is launching the "New Leadership for Equity"
initiative. Our vision is to provide advanced leadership development and
networking for Oregon educators and community leaders who courageously
choose to lead for equity.

Our first offering will be "The New Leadership for Equity" seminar,
which is a 4-day residential experience held June 22-25, 2009, on the
Willamette University campus, in Salem, Oregon. Attached is a detailed
flyer...please check it out!

The New Leadership For Equity team strongly believes that today's
educational landscape demands a new generation of school leaders who can
effectively maximize diverse people, complex systems, and constant
change to produce high outcomes for all students. We also believe that
exceptional leaders need uncommon professional development. With this in
mind, our June 2009 seminar will be a place where:

*	Honest and courageous dialog about equity is not only
encouraged, but expected.
*	The structures, processes, & learning mirrors the complexity of
what is required to be an effective anti-racist leader in today's
social, political, and educational climate.
*	Conflict will be surfaced, facilitated, and moved through--in
real-time.
*	Strong & reciprocal alliances will be developed, with special
attention paid to cross-cultural alliances.

Registration is limited...sign up now! For reservations, or to be added
to our mailing list, contact: Keisha Edwards @ the Oregon Parental

ALSO: In the very near future the New Leadership for Equity initiative
will offer two affinity groups for educators in the Portland, Oregon
metropolitan area: one for White Anti-Racist Leaders, and another for
Leaders of Color. This will be regular and facilitated space where deep
renewal and learning can occur. (And no cost!) Stay tuned for dates,
times, & locations!

And as always, we would love for you to share this information with
other like-minded educators. THANKS!

Sincerely,

Keisha M. Edwards
