Hi!
I have to admit that what I'm about to write sounds a little bit like
a personals ad.
I am transitioning from being a Ph.D. student and a university course
instructor back to a classroom teacher. I will be teaching at a
charter school in a rural area where there are not any/many other AP
US History teachers. I was hoping to find people who have similar
goals -- teaching history to promote dialogue, to expand historical
thinking skills, to think about the multiple and diverse history of
the US, and to adequately prepare students to be first generation
college students -- who are teaching AP US so that I can have a
thought partner/critical friend. I have never taught AP classes
before but have a lot of other resources I could contribute to this
relationship. I would also be willing to set up a web forum/community
if there were multiple people interested in getting together to talk
history. Bonus points if you are in the Mississippi Delta area or
will be attending AP training at the University of Arkansas at
Fayetteville.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Amy
