[RSCT] resources on discussing social class?

I highly recommend an article by Janet Zandy titled "Decloaking Class: Why Class Identity and Consciousness Count," which is published in a book I co-edited with Svi Shapiro and Sabrina N. Ross titled The Institution of Education, 5th Edition, published by Pearson Publishing.
Zandy talks about how class identity is cloaked and how using class difference personally and collectively matters. Another great article, also in this text is a very powerful article by Dorothy Allison titled "A Question of Class," in which she reveals through her own personal narrative the experience of growing up poor and how class startification crosses over issues of race, gender, and gender identity and the myth that we "build our lives on the ruin of others."
Great last sentence: "To resist destruction, self-hatred, or lifelong hopelessness, we have to throw off the conditioning of being despised, the fear of becoming the they that is talked about so dismissively, to refuse lying myths and easy oralities, to see ourselves as human, flawed, and extraordinary. All of us extraordinary."

There's an excellent DVD from the Media Education Foundation on the
portrayal of the working class on TV, "Class Dismissed."

I'm looking for films/film clips and short readings to help high school
students discuss social class in America and in their lives. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Shanti
