Hi Friends,

As you may know, I've been working on a dissertation titled "Teaching for
Social Justice with Standards-Based Secondary English Language Arts
Curriculum," and am delighted to report that I only need 12 more
participants in order to begin my analysis. I'm recruiting teachers
nationally, and participation will require filling out 3 brief (really!)
surveys and submitting a lesson plan that they consider an example of
"teaching for social justice." A more thorough explanation of my study is
pasted below.

Would you please forward this to anyone who might be interested? I'm hoping
to begin my analysis over winter break, so the more timely your response,
the better!

Thanks so much, and I hope all is well,
Alison George

Dear Colleagues:

I'm a high school English teacher and a doctoral candidate in the Social
Justice Education program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. My
dissertation research focuses on how secondary English Language Arts
teachers teach for social justice with standards-based curriculum.

As part of my research, I'm recruiting secondary English Language Arts
teachers to submit copies of standards-based lesson plans that they consider
examples of "teaching for social justice." Participating teachers will
complete a brief questionnaire describing their background & teaching
experience, their ideas about teaching for social justice in standards based
environments, and how the submitted lesson plan exemplifies teaching for
social justice.

In order to make this research as mutually beneficial as possible, at the
end of the study, I will forward a summary of my findings and copies of
submitted lesson plans (with the submitting teacher's permission) to all
study participants. I also plan to invite study participants to join a
listserv for social justice oriented secondary English Language Arts
teachers, as well as to collaborate on future publications and conference
presentations.

*To participate in this study, please e-mail me at alisongeorge at gmail.com*.
I'm very excited about the possibilities of this research, and look forward
to your participation!

 Thank you,

Alison George, M.Ed.
