I think an interesting addition would be a film to cover the Great
Hunger in Ireland 1846-1848. It certainly was genocide.
It produced a mass migration to the U.S. of millions. The arriving
famine Irish changed U.S. culture, some positively some negatively.
For example, the role of the Working Man's party in engaging in anti
Chinese activities.
the migration changed the U.S. Irish Americans are among the largest
single ethnic group in the nation.
Their assimilation was advanced by the horrors of the Great Hunger.
PBS has a film, The Irish in America, and a second one on the Great
Hunger.
Duane Campbell
"Education either... is used to facilitate integration of the younger
generation into the logic of the present system and bring about
conformity, or it becomes the practice of freedom, the means by which
men and women deal critically and creatively with reality and
discover how to participate in the transormation of their world. "
